01 / DIGITAL SOVEREIGNTY
Renting a service means someone else holds the kill switch, the pricing page, and your data. Self-hosting means the worst day of the year is my fault and so is the fix. I'll take that deal every time.
02 / VERIFICATION OVER TRUST
Changelogs are marketing. Status pages are promises. I don't believe either until the request comes back 200 from a box I can touch. Test it yourself or you're just hoping.
03 / BORROWED POWER VS OWNED POWER
Maxim 1.0 was a 240M-parameter model that died from a lack of POWAHHHH — my hardware couldn't feed it. Maxim 2.0 borrows the compute through OpenRouter and lives again. Borrowed power is a bridge. Owned power is the destination. Know which one you're standing on.

If you can't fix it at 3am, you don't own it — it owns you. Everything I run has been broken at least once at the worst possible hour, and everything I run got fixed by the same pair of hands. That's the whole point.

French, German, Russian, Chinese — and Python. Not a hobby: pattern-matching. Every grammar is another way to decompose a problem, and most problems surrender faster in a second syntax.
